sproot
sproot is contract-farming software that helps teams manage their farming projects and the people and data behind them. As their product designer, I redesigned the admin dashboard, starting with the desktop web app and then the mobile app. The result was a new design system that made complex flows easier to follow and gave users a clear view of what needs their attention.
The approach
The goal: Give users a birds-eye view of all their projects, show which ones need attention, and make it easy to see how pieces of information connect.
Starting with research — Grounded every decision in user research and best practice, so the redesign solved real tracking problems rather than just refreshing the look.
Designing the birds-eye view — Redesigned the dashboard so users can see every project at a glance and spot what needs attention first. No more digging through screens to find out what's falling behind.
Linking the information — Connected related data across the platform, so users can move from one piece of information to the next without losing context. This was the biggest win of the project.
Building a design system that scales — Created a reusable system of components, styles and patterns, first for desktop and then extended to mobile, so new screens stay consistent as the business grows.
Designing alongside developers — Designed every screen in Figma, then worked with the developers to test it against real functionality, so what shipped matched what I designed.

Decisions
🔭 Clarity at a glance — Users can now see all their projects in one place and know straight away which ones need attention.
🔗 Connected information — Related data now links together across the platform, so complex tracking and flows are far easier to follow.
📱 One system, desktop to mobile — The same design language carries across the web and mobile apps, so the experience feels consistent on any screen.
🌱 A system the team could keep building — The design system was structured clearly enough that sproot's team continued extending it with AI after my contract ended.

Key Learnings
The best design work is the kind a team can carry on without you. A design system isn't a set of screens. It's a set of decisions, written down clearly enough that anyone can keep building in the same direction.
Building sproot's system with that in mind meant my work didn't stop when my contract did. The team could keep shipping consistent, well-designed screens, leveraging AI as part of how they did it.
