Nyumba Cement
Nyumba Cement distributes Mombasa Cement products across Kenya. Most of their business ran on word of mouth, referrals and in-person sales, and many people assumed they only supplied large-scale projects. In reality they sell 50kg bags, bulk bags and bulker loads. They needed a website that showed the full range, built trust with first-time buyers, and made it easy to start an order.
The approach
The goal: Turn a referral-led business into one that customers can find, trust and contact online, with WhatsApp as the main way to start an order.
Building the brand direction — Created three moodboards from the client's navy and red logo, so the team could pick a direction visually before any build began.
Designing for trust — Added a trust bar (Kenya Bureau of Standards certified, stocked depot, next-day delivery, 200+ dedicated fleet, 50+ experts), an About page showing the depot and delivery fleet, and a certificates section. Buyers can see who they're ordering from before they get in touch.
Making the range clear — Wrote and structured every product page, comparison table and FAQ so buyers instantly see what's available, from a single 50kg bag to a full bulker load.
Making it easy to enquire — Added WhatsApp buttons with pre-filled messages on key pages, so a visitor can start an order in one tap instead of explaining what they want from scratch.
Building visibility and tracking — Wrote three Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) blog posts, verified the site in Google Search Console, and set up custom tracking for WhatsApp clicks and a weekly Looker Studio report. The client can see what's working without needing to ask.
Handing over with confidence — Ran a full desktop and mobile quality check before launch, then transferred the store to the client with a Shopify training guide for their team.

Selling tool
📲 Enquiries from day one — In the first month, the site recorded 32 sessions and 10 WhatsApp clicks. Visitors weren't just browsing, they were starting conversations.
🏗️ The full range, finally visible — Customers now see that Nyumba serves everyone, from one bag to a full bulker load.
📊 A business that can see its results — WhatsApp clicks and traffic are tracked and reported weekly, so the team can see what's working and where enquiries come from.
🔎 A foundation to grow from — SEO blog posts and Search Console set up at launch give a business that grew by word of mouth a way to be found by people who've never heard of them.

Key Learnings
For a business that sells through relationships, the website doesn't replace the conversation. It starts it. Making WhatsApp the main call to action, and tracking every click, meant the site fit how Nyumba already sells.
The numbers are small, but they're real and they're measured. That gives the team a baseline to build on as the site grows.
